Automations

Triggers, keywords and how a reply actually fires.

Set Up Keyword Triggers

  1. Create an automation

Go to Automations and tap New automation. Keywords are set while creating it; a finished automation can鈥檛 be edited.

  2. Add keywords

Enter the words or phrases that should trigger the DM. Separate multiple keywords with commas.

  3. Choose match type

Select "Exact match" for precise keywords or "Contains" for partial matches.

  4. Test it

Comment on your own post with the keyword to verify the DM is sent correctly.

Using Emoji and Accented Keywords

  1. Emoji work as keywords

A keyword can be 馃敟 or 鉂わ笍 on its own, or mixed with words.

  2. Skin tones and variants match

馃憤 and 馃憤馃徑 are treated as the same keyword, as are hearts with and without the emoji variation selector.

  3. Case and spacing are ignored

"LINK", "link" and " link " all match. Invisible padding characters are stripped before comparison.

  4. Whole-word only applies to words

Exact match uses word boundaries for text keywords. Emoji always match by containment, because a boundary around an emoji means nothing.

Questions

How do keyword automations work?

When someone comments a specific keyword on your post, DMChat automatically sends them a DM with your pre-configured message. You can set exact or partial keyword matching and customize the response per automation.

Can I have multiple automations running at once?

Yes, and they all run simultaneously. Starter allows 5 automations, Influencer allows unlimited. Each one has its own trigger and response configuration.

What happens when someone triggers multiple automations?

If a comment matches multiple automation keywords, only the first matching automation (by creation order) will fire. This prevents duplicate DMs to the same user.

Can I use emoji as a keyword?

Yes. Emoji work on their own or mixed with words. Skin-tone variants are folded together, so 馃憤 and 馃憤馃徑 match the same keyword, as do hearts with and without the emoji variation selector. Case, extra spacing and invisible padding characters are all ignored on both sides of the comparison.
